Meghalaya is one of the twenty eight States of India spread in an area of 22.4 thousands square kilometers. Its population is 29.7 lakhs which includes urban population of 6 lakhs and rural population of 23.7 lakhs. The sex ratio of Meghalaya is nine hundred eighty nine females per 1000 males.

It is divided into twelve districts, forty six sub-distrcits and forty six blocks. There are 15.1 thousands schools, 801 hospitals, 376 ATMs, 352 banks, 513 post offices in Meghalaya.
